Also, I have a feeling that this type of pattern comes from either a certain era (or was popular in a certain era) and likely has a name. Feel free to enlighten me if you know your fashions.

Fun fact: I'm hoping to use it for a bag at some point once I tame my sewing machine. I have learned that sewing machines are dastardly things.
